the wrong reasons

I wanted to believe you, I wanted you to lie
I wanted you to tell me
How much you wanted me in your life.
I wanted to run, I wanted to leave
I wanted to prove that
You would one day miss me.
I wanted you to stay, To hold you in my arms
To tell you that I love you
And never say goodbye.
Even though I miss you, Even though I cry
I still hold you so near me
Even when I close my eyes.
I wanted you for all the wrong reasons
But you left for all the right
And one day I will stop crying
But not until my dreams stop holding you tight.
